Reminder, we have onsite physicals through ReGenesis during the school day at Byrnes High School on April 15th (8am-5pm). Students must bring their payment and completed sports physical forms with them at the time of their physical. No appointment needed.

Last Thursday Coach Holcombe's FIGHT Club visited the Swamp Rabbit Trail along with, expert rider, Coach Deering. They rented bikes in Travelers Rest and rode down to Furman University and back to Travelers Rest for a total of about 7 miles. This ride was in preparation for their 17 mile ride on the Virginia Creeper Trail in mid-April. This is a great way to get outside with your family and enjoy the beautiful landscapes and ☀️! You can 🚶🏃♀️or🚴♂️.
There is LOTS going on this month in Fine Arts!
This week, our art students who were juried into the Converse Emerging Young Artist Exhibit will be recognized, the band will be headed to their Concert Performance Assessment and our Winterguard will be headed to Daytona to Winterguard Internationals! Best of luck!
Band, orchestra and chorus will all participate in their respective solo and ensemble festivals.
Theatre will open their spring show, The Little Mermaid, in the BHS Black Box April 17-19 and April 24-25.
Artzapalooza will go up and be open to the public (days to see during the school day TBA) on April 16 and hang until the closing reception on May 10th. (Invitation attached!)
ALL disciplines will have students who participated in state level competitions recognized at the April board meeting on April 28th.
Applications are now available for RISING JUNIORS interested in the Junior Leadership Spartanburg program for the 2025-2026 school year.

ABOUT JUNIOR LEADERSHIP
Junior Leadership Spartanburg (JLS) was adopted in 1987 to give high school junior students from across Spartanburg County the chance to learn outside the classroom while developing leadership qualities and connecting them more deeply to the Spartanburg Community.
The nine-month program is endorsed and approved by all seven Spartanburg County school districts, and its private schools. JLS attendance falls within regular school hours, and does not count as a school absence, nor will it prevent participation in extracurricular activities.
JLS allows high school juniors to learn the skills of time management, community awareness, and business ethics, among others. Additionally, students will train in personal and professional development, volunteer opportunities, and team-building.
Local colleges, universities and businesses partner with us to provide professional personnel, facilities and other aspects of the sessions throughout the school year. Program leadership and staff attend all activities, functions and meetings pertaining to the program.
Wrestling open season will begin Wednesday April 2nd. Practices will be 4:00-5:30 in the wrestling room at Byrnes HS. This is for any current 7th-11th graders. Athletes will need to have a physical and all forms completed on PlanetHS in order to attend.
Submissions for the Spring 2025 edition of the school literary journal, Lines and Rhymes, are now open! Submissions may be fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, or visual art. To see full submission guidelines or submit a piece for publication, see the submission form, below:
