Our 3rd graders had an out-of-this-world experience at the planetarium today! ⭐️✨ They explored the wonders of space, gazed at the stars, and learned all about the planets in our solar system. It was a stellar day filled with curiosity and discovery! 🚀🔭
🚀✨ National Engineering Week in PLTW! ✨🚀 Our 1st–5th graders at Wellford Academy have been busy exploring, designing, and discovering the incredible world of engineering! 🏗️🔬 🔦 1st Grade: Researching light and sound to design communication devices. 💡 2nd Grade: Studying inventors for Black History Month & brainstorming their own inventions. 📺 3rd & 5th Grade: Learning how AI, computer science, and engineers bring live sports to our screens with Amazon Future Engineering & Prime Video Sports. 🗺️ 4th Grade: Using Google Earth & gaming strategies to study Earth's land features—culminating in map creation and a documentary! STEM is alive and thriving in PLTW, engaging ALL students in real-world engineering experiences! 🌎💡

It’s a winter wonderland at Wellford Academy! ❄️ We’ve had snow not once, but TWICE this week, and the excitement is through the roof! Our Wolfpack is making the most of these rare snowy school days—enjoying the magic while learning and playing. Who else is loving this surprise winter treat?!
Mrs. Collins’ 2nd graders have been hard at work exploring the world of weather! Through their reading unit, they’ve been researching and writing informational texts about dangerous weather. From tornadoes to hurricanes, these young meteorologists are learning how to inform and engage their readers with fascinating facts! ⛈️📚
🥰Mrs. Gregory’s kindergartners had a special treat today with a guest reader from fourth grade! 🥰
Our young learners loved listening to a story read by their older peer—what a great way to build a love for reading and foster connections across grade levels!

Last week, Mrs. Sill joined Mrs. Blanton’s 3rd graders for an exciting STEM challenge inspired by The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind! 📖💡 After reading the story, students worked through the engineering design process to create windmills that could actually turn. 💨🔧
This hands-on project helped students collaborate, communicate, and problem-solve as they explored renewable energy and the power of innovation! 🔬👏
✨🦁❄️ Adventure Awaits! ❄️🦁✨ Our 5th graders took a magical journey to Narnia during their field trip to the Chapman Cultural Center to see The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe! 🎭📖 From the icy reign of the White Witch to Aslan’s heroic roar, students were captivated by this classic tale brought to life on stage. What an amazing time we had at Books, Burgers, and Bingo last night! 🎉 From the excitement of winning to the joy of choosing new books, our students left with full hearts (and hands full of books!). 📖💡 Smiles, laughter, and cheers filled the room as families enjoyed a fun night together.
