To welcome students back after our winter storm, the students in Mrs. Lee and Mrs. Ferrell's K5 class made marshmallow snowflakes and did snowman writing in their warm classroom!

What a fun 100th day of school in Mrs. Tabors McCarty's class! Her students counted to 100 with dots by adding 67 and 33! Then, they practiced counting to 100 by adding 100 fruit loops to a necklace. (And then enjoyed eating most of them!) #100thdayofschool
Over the past two weeks, our fourth grade classes came to the library to read Extra Yarn by Mac Barnett. After hearing about Annabelle’s magical box of yarn, students designed their own special sweaters — thinking about who they’d gift them to and why. Then they wrote a paragraph explaining their inspiration: a grandparent’s favorite color, a friend who loves rainbows, or a teacher who always cheers them on.
Seeing their designs and thoughtful reasons reminded us how stories inspire kindness and creativity. 🧶💚📖

Yesterday Mrs. Duncan’s 5th graders quietly tiptoed into Mrs. Lee’s kindergarten room with “snowballs,” big smiles, and a mission: spread joy.
What followed was pure magic — gentle tosses, contagious giggles, and kids of all ages shrieking with laughter as the classroom turned into a winter wonderland (without the cold!). ❄️☃️

Before break, Dr. Davis introduced students to the new Peter Reynolds book, The Gift of Words. Students enjoyed leaning about the power of our words and then chose a word to add to the TRE Gift of Words tree!

Today was Grinch Day in Mrs. Knepp and Mrs. Chandler's class! They dressed up for the day, baked special cookies, and enjoyed a read aloud of "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." What a great day! 💚❄️🎄

Today Mrs. Mary Lee’s kindergartners enjoyed a cozy read-aloud of Gingerbread Friends by Jan Brett. After the story, the children created their own gingerbread house ornaments — full of giggles, glitter, and lots of tiny hands working together.

Mrs. Cook’s class wrapped up their gingerbread unit by building their own gingerbread houses and writing all about the experience. Students practiced fine motor skills while assembling (and taste‑testing!), used vocabulary from the unit, and wrote their houses! 🎉🍪
What a magical night — thank you to everyone who joined us for our first Merry & Bright Family Night! Students enjoyed photos with Santa, cookies and milk, festive crafts, and cozy Christmas read‑alouds from our wonderful special guest readers. This week, our kindergarteners had a very special guest! Superintendent Dr. Gary came to read "If You Take a Mouse to the Movies" with Mrs. Thompson’s class! The students giggled at the mouse’s antics, joined in with predictions, and practiced great listening and sharing.
