United Field Day at FCMS today! #CougarsLEAD

It’s National Assistant Principals Week and our three are hard to beat! Walko, Anderson, and Austin are all absolute champs. They are all so approachable, hard-working, and kind. They care about what’s best for the people in our school. And they are great fun as well. The FCMS community is so fortunate to have these guys as our allies and our friends!

Our 7th grade students had a great time at the Career Fair at DR Hill today!

Today Rick Smith came and thoroughly entertained the crowd of students who qualified to see him because of their excellent fundraising! It was a fantastic experience and everyone was super impressed by his skills and sleight of hand! ♠️♥️♣️♦️

Mrs. Karalash’s Math 8 students worked on a puzzle activity to reinforce the vocabulary they are learning for their“Angle Relationships” unit! #CougarsLEAD

Mrs. Medina’s Spanish 1 class took a field trip to experience the beauty and energy of a Hispanic dance performance. From the vibrant music and colorful costumes to the lively choreography, the dance performance brought Spanish and Latin American traditions to life! A few of our students even joined the dancers on stage to try out some moves! 💃💃

Ms. Long’s classes created commercials using Ethos, Logos, and Pathos! #CougarsLEAD

The FCMS 7th and 8th grade bands had their state Concert Performance Assessment today. They prepared 3 pieces to play for 3 judges. They also sightread a new piece of music that our students have never seen before. They had a scant 6 minutes to work through the new piece without playing on instruments (no sounds allowed), then played that piece for 1 judge.
Bands can earn a superior, excellent, good, fair, or poor. All 4 judges gave both bands the highest possible rating of superior which means that BOTH BANDS EARNED A SUPERIOR WITH DISTINCTION! This is a huge accomplishment and a testament to the hard work of the students and directors!

In recognition of National School Librarian Day, FCMS would like to give a huge shout-out to Kristie Cox and Brooke Gresham! They are the ultimate servants to our school, and they always do their incredible work with a warm smile. We are so grateful for you!! #CougarsLEAD 📚📖📕

The Florence Chapel Singers attended the Choral Performance Assessment last Thursday and earned a superior rating! These 8th Grade Chorus students sang two songs for three judges and then sight-sang for a judge. They worked incredibly hard to receive this award. Congratulations to these students and Mrs. PA!

Recess!

FCMS is so thankful for Sam ARP for sharing a good word with our FCA students this morning! #CougarsLEAD

Yesterday, a group of Juniors and Seniors from Byrnes and their AVID instructors came to speak to 8th grade students about high school AVID classes. It was so beneficial to learn from their experience and wisdom! #CougarsLEAD

Red Nose Day is celebrated to bring awareness to famine and poverty. It was started in 1985 by Comic Relief to raise funds for these causes. AVID celebrated this day by reading an article and writing questions to quiz each other, as well as donned rubber noses.

Yesterday , AVID and House Council students teamed up in a unique service project! They helped clean portions of several nearby roadways. A total of 19 students and 3 adults gathered 14 bags of trash and in diing so made the community around us much better. Proud of you guys! #CougarsLEAD

Mr. Ebaugh’s students were challenged to design an experiment to investigate which type of material provides a good blackworm habitat! #CougarsLEAD

The RISE and Modified Classes from FCMS along with other students from the area attended the 2nd Annual D5 Basketball Skills Event today at Byrnes High School! This event is centered around the unification of students with and without disabilities. Students participated in face painting, basketball shooting and dribbling stations, and 3 on 3 games! The event ended with a dance party! #CougarsLEAD

Mrs. Ready’s science class collaborated with Mrs. Mckinney’s RISE students on a “Live Earthworm Lab.” They observed worms’ behavior response to stimuli such as light or moisture and how these adaptive advantages help them survive. No earthworm was harmed during this activity, but students had an unforgettable time learning about them! 🪱🪱🪱
